THE STEEL HANDLE
Psalms 46:1 – God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (KJV)
Read: Isaiah 41:10-14
A friend once tried water and salt bath therapy for the first time. He experienced serious panic stepping into the floating tank; however, inside the tank was a steel handle meant to provide balance and support. At first, the gentleman doubted the little handle’s ability to give him stability. But when he finally made use of it, he found not only the stability he needed but also discovered that the handle was key to the therapy session.
This experience mirrors the issue of humans’ trust in God. Life’s challenges and limitations can sometimes overshadow people’s faith, causing them to undermine God’s ability to provide security. Nevertheless, like the steel handle, God is always there to uphold and guide us if we rely on Him. David affirmed this truth in today’s Bible text, where he recognised God as the constant refuge and strength. If my friend had refused to use the handle or the floating tank, he would have lost out on the whole benefit of the therapy. Therefore, refusing to trust God is like ignoring the handle and support He offers.
Beloved, fear is a major reason why people refuse to trust in God. Fear is the opposite of faith and the devil’s tool for magnifying doubts over hope in Christ. Fear blinds people to possibilities in God. The possibilities are all-inclusive; God purifies, restores, strengthens, and gives exclusive therapy for all circumstances. Don’t let fear or worry rob you of the peace and joy God provides. Instead, be courageous and sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
PRAYER
Song: You Are Always There to Help — Dr Paul Enenche (2017)
1. Father, thank You for being my guide and refuge through life’s journey.
2. Holy Spirit, help me see God’s outstretched arms of support in every situation.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Holy Spirit, reveal to me my portion in the scheme of power and grant me the strength to pray without ceasing.
2. Father, please send help for me in my times of need (mention).
3. Dedicate time to praying in the Holy Spirit, and you will find renewed strength!
YOU SHALL HEAR GOOD NEWS!
