FRUITFULNESS (Part 9)
Matthew 21:1-11 (7) – They brought the donkey and the colt to him and threw their garments over the colt, and he sat on it. (NLT)
Read: Ephesians 6:7-8, 1 Corinthians 15:58
A significant lesson of Easter is fruitfulness and usefulness. Today’s Bible text reveals Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem. That day, Jesus rode an untouched donkey into the city, and the crowd gathered to hail him. Among this crowd were all kinds of people—spectators, clappers, and others who held palm leaves and spread their valuable clothing on the street to honour Jesus.
The Easter season represents Christ’s sacrifice for human redemption and an opportunity to reflect on our responsibility in God’s Kingdom. John 15:16 says, “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit.” God has chosen you to be fruitful in extending His reign on Earth. Therefore, do not be idle or applaud activities without participating because fruitfulness is your true nature in God. You do not have to hold a title before you can contribute to God’s work. Diligently make the Lord’s priorities yours—like the people who held leaves and spread their garments, use your talents or give to support the propagation of the gospel.
The state of the active vessels is also crucial to their fruitfulness and usefulness. The donkey Jesus rode was never used before the day, making it preserved and spotless. Beloved, the quality of your fruitfulness and value in the Kingdom is a function of your consecration and dedication. “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God” (Romans 8:13). Be fresh and on the go for God, and your labour shall not go unrewarded.
PRAYER
Hymn: Work, for the Night, is Coming — Anna L. Coghill (1854)
1. I refuse to be a spectator in God’s Kingdom. Father, consecrate me, make me active, and cause me to be fruitful.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Lord Jesus, show me my calling and Your will for my life.
2. Father, please turn my sorrows, afflictions, pains, and regrets into joy.
3. Today, I receive fresh oil for the best impact on my generation. I shall not fail God!
