LESSONS FROM THE PARABLE
Romans 5:8 – But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (NLT)
Read: 1 John 1:9
Jesus spoke a parable about the Pharisee and the publican. Publicans were considered touts in those days due to their role as tax collectors. The publican and the Pharisee once went to pray, and the publican prayed humbly for mercy while the Pharisee prayed aloud, condemning the other man. What happened after was that God justified the publican above the Pharisee (Luke 18:9-14).
A significant lesson from this parable is that humility and mercy are required in the journey of faith. God is the originator of mercy, and when you humble yourself (repent or acknowledge God), you become a recipient of His love. Today’s Bible text reveals God demonstrated His love by sending Christ to redeem the world. This implies that you can receive forgiveness, irrespective of the severity of your sins, whether you engage in occultism, banditry, or immorality. If you repent and surrender to Jesus, He will give you a new beginning!
On the other hand, if you cover your sins, you will be categorised as the Pharisee who condemned others but failed to seek personal salvation. Proverbs 28:13 says, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” I urge you to lay bare before God, and He will show you mercy.

(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, arise to liberate me, my family, my nation, and the church from the valley of defeat and oppression.
2. Father, please send me Your warring angels to destroy any ancestral watchdog set over my life.
3. Holy Ghost fire! Enter my past and break the ancestral covenants controlling my destiny.
