THE FLAWS OF MANKIND! (Part 2)
Matthew 26:36-46 (41) – Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!” (NLT)
Read: Numbers 20:1-13; 1 Kings 18:16-46; 19; Matthew 4:1-11; John 12:4-6.
There comes a time when a man lacks strength—a moment when the flesh awakens to embody human nature. For example, despite Moses’ diligence in leading the Israelites, his physical flaws hindered his entry into the Promised Land. Elijah was also powerful in that he called down fire from heaven, yet when human nature prevailed, he ran away and told God to kill him only because Jezebel threatened him.
The key point is that the devil understands man’s vulnerability, and that is why he walks around seeking whom to tempt and devour (1 Peter 5:8). Satan succeeded in the case of Moses and caused Elijah to fear. He made a similar attempt to test Jesus at a time of vulnerability. But Christ lived by the Spirit, through which He addressed the devil with the Word and prevailed.
Beloved, how much of the Scriptures do you know? You can’t claim to live by the spirit and lack the Word of life and power. As revealed in the Bible text for today, to prevail against the flesh, you must sustain the life of the spirit by keeping watch in prayer and the Word. This will prompt the Holy Spirit to reveal and repair your sin-prone weaknesses.
ACTION POINT
What are your flaws? Are they corrupt friendship, fear, pride, procrastination, carnal-mindedness, anger, unforgiveness, technology, pornography, or loneliness? Whatever it is! Identify the gap and seal it up. Remember! Judas became negatively famous today because he failed to curb his soft spot.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, help me identify my weaknesses and proactively make amends.
2. Father, cause my land to flourish again. Destroy every hindrance to my spiritual and physical prosperity.
3. Holy Spirit, ignite Your fire of deliverance and the miraculous in our Churches again.
