THE FLAWS OF MANKIND! (Part 1)
Galatians 5:16-26 (16)
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. (NKJV)
Read: 1 Samuel 13:14; 2 Samuel 11; Acts 13:22; Luke 22:54-62; Matthew 7:1-5, Matthew 26:41; John 8:15; 2 Corinthians 5:16-17
David was a man after God’s heart, but when his human nature played out, he slept with Bathsheba and killed her husband (Uriah). Peter, being a disciple, denied Jesus thrice. We can go on citing examples, but one thing is certain: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Every human that operates in the flesh has a weakness.
We are often quick to judge others, especially people in authority and God’s servants. We lay blame because we have never ridden in their path and forgot that we are also humans. Take heed! Never judge or set a benchmark based on human qualities unless the standard is based on the scriptures.
If there’s a fact to hold on to, man is prone to error. This is because we are mortals! However, the antidote to falling to fleshy desires is to live by the spirit. When we continuously walk in the spirit, as affirmed by the key text for today, we can escape the vulnerability of the flesh. The people like David and Peter whom God used in the Bible had their own flaws, yet they were repentant and restored!
Beloved, have you fallen to sin? Perhaps as a fellow, respected personality, or a minister of God, you have committed errors that ears should not hear! Regardless of how terrible your sins or darkened your heart, Christ is saying to you, as He told the adulterous woman in John 8:1-11, ‘Neither do I condemn you.’ If you repent and return to the Lord, He will rescue you and cause you to live by His spirit.
PRAYER
Hymn: Softly and Tenderly, Jesus Is Calling – Will L. Thompson (1880)
1. Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am human and not perfect. Please help me walk in the Spirit, and be delivered from my weaknesses.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Spend quality time praying in the Spirit. You shall receive the power to prevail over the fleshy flaws!
YOU ARE LOVED!
