THE EYES OF UNDERSTANDING
Ephesians 1:17-18 (18) – The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (KJV)

Every human has physical eyes, spiritual eyes, and eyes of understanding. Understanding is the basis for beliefs and knowledge. Today’s Bible reading reveals that the foundation of knowledge has eyes and that these eyes can be enlightened. When Prophet Hosea said that people perish for lack of knowledge, he meant that the community lacked the light that should illuminate their understanding (Hosea 4:6). Where the eyes of understanding are opened through God’s light, there will be conformity to His will.
The Holy Spirit is the source of enlightenment and understanding in God. Verse 17 of the key text says: “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.” Wisdom and revelation are part of the gifts of the Spirit. In other words, wisdom and revelation (knowledge) are required to operate in divine understanding. These gifts are essential in the modern day, and without them, people struggle. Therefore, I pray that the Lord will open your eyes of understanding so you can walk in perpetual light. Amen!
