“YOUR WILL BE DONE”
Matthew 6:5-15 (10) – Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. (NIV)
Read: Luke 22:42; Psalms 119:89-96
When Jesus was teaching the people how to pray, He mentioned several things about prayer. Among other important points, in today’s Bible reading, Jesus said, “Your will be done”. This means that the concept of prayer includes acknowledging God’s supremacy over personal requests. Christ exemplified the act of submission to God’s will in prayer when He was crucified. He wished that the situation could be averted, yet He said, “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.” If God’s plan was not fulfilled at Calvary, what would have become of humanity today?
Nothing is as good as bowing to the will of God with a heart of joy and obedience. When we possess a heart of submission, we will not pray selfishly but intercede according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Christ’s statement of “Your will be done” also signifies that we have an understanding that before we pray, God’s word is already settled; therefore, we conform to it.
Beloved, if there are any ways you have been hindering divine purpose in the place of prayer, repent and ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to always pray according to God’s will. With this, you will see God acting fast on your requests simply because you are praying His mind into reality.
PRAYER
Hymn: Take My Life, and Let it Be – Frances R. Havergal (1874)
1. Father, please forgive my selfishness in the place of prayer.
2. Father, I surrender to Your perfect will and wisdom for my life, now and forever!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, please prosper the works of my hands according to Your will.
2. Father, oppose and put to shame every unrelenting attacker of my life and glory.
3. Father, please let Your love flow through my heart, families, communities, and the Church.
RELAX, YOU WILL NEVER BE PUT TO SHAME!
