WORSHIP GOD, NOT MAN!
Revelation 19:10 – And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (NKJV)
In today’s Bible reading, after the angel had revealed some events concerning the fall of Babylon, John was so overwhelmed by the revelation so much that he paid undue reverence to the angel. John bowed to the angel to worship him, but the messenger of God quickly cautioned him to worship God only.
John’s heart of worship was a perfect attribute that every child of God must have, but what John did wrong was that he wanted to adore the servant rather than the master (God). This was exactly what the angel explained. He was a fellow servant of God like John, and they were to worship God. Paul also warned against the worship of angels or humans and insisted that whoever lures people to do these things is not of God (Colossians 2:18-19).
Beloved, no human, spouse, child, possession, man or woman of God, must be worshipped. God alone deserves praise, even when His mind is revealed to us by His servants or anyone. Whoever gives God’s praise to another is in danger of extinction (Luke 19:40). Take heed! If you belong to an assembly where man or creatures are exalted above God, you better flee before judgement falls upon you. Whether you are a pastor, prophet, or believer, make sure that all honour goes to the Father and not you. God will be pleased by this and continually be sovereign over your life.
