WHY YOUR PRAYERS ARE NOT ANSWERED
Roman 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (NIV)
Read: Isaiah 55:7-13
Philippians 4:6-7 tells us that through prayers we can make our wishes known, yet prayer remains a mystery. We can’t explain it, because at times it is possible that we pray and do not receive the desired answer. This is not to say that our God is not active; instead, it may be our sins or that it’s not the set time and best option for us.
We see an excellent example of unanswered prayers when Christ was to be crucified. He prayed to His Father for a reversal of His crucifixion and got no response (Matthew 26:36-45). In 2 Samuel 12:15-23, after David slept with Bathsheba, the child she had eventually died despite David’s fasting and prayers. Paul also repeatedly pleaded with God for relief from what he called a “reoccurring problem”, but only got a word saying, “My grace is sufficient for you” (2 Corinthians 12:7-10).
Beloved, what we fail to adapt to our conscious mind, even as Christians, is that God does whatever He pleases so long as it leads us to His perfect will.
So why pray at all?
The truth is that prayer is not about results but mainly about building a relationship with the Father. God wants us to relate to Him so we might know Him, grow in Him, and trust Him. The Father wants His children to get involved and play an active role in the kingdom’s formation. When we have an understanding of God, it becomes easier to discern the motive behind our answered or unanswered prayers because we know there is a purpose and that “all things work together for good…”, as our Bible text reads.
Action Point
Be guided always by the Holy Spirit in order to pray according to God’s will through faith in Christ Jesus.
