WHO IS IN YOUR BOAT?
Luke 8:22-25 (24) – The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. (NIV)
Nobody is free from the trials of life because life itself is a journey full of momentary rough edges (John 16:33). Whether in the day or night, storms can spring up from nowhere, but the good news is that victory can be attained. Our Bible reading tells the story of when Christ was fast asleep in the boat during the hurricane. The disciples, who thought their ship would capsize, quickly woke Him up, and immediately, Jesus rebuked the wind. In the same manner, I decree to every raging problem in your life and marriage, peace, in Jesus’ name.
The Holy Spirit wants us to know that the difference between those that finished well and the ones who drowned in destiny is a function of who was in their boat. Some trust in material prowess and human ideology, which seemed to work for them until they faced a storm only to discover that they cannot save (Psalms 20:7). On the other hand, those who made Christ their foundation stood, despite the rain, floods, and winds (Matthew 7:24-27). My prayer for you is that you will have a renewed understanding of God and the experience of His power in Jesus’ name.
Beloved, who and what is in your boat? The disciples lacked the faith to speak to the storm, but their eyes were not closed, not to acknowledge the master. Today, I encourage you to invite Jesus into your boat or if you already have Him, open your eyes to His saving grace. Christ is the strong tower; if you make Him your fortress, you have everything! (Proverbs 18:10)
PRAYER
Hymn: Master, the Tempest Is Raging — Mary Ann Baker (1874)
1. Father, I thank You because I am still standing by grace.
2. I decree! Every storm assigned to bury me, be silenced!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, help my unbelief and destroy every unprofitable appetite in me.
2. Blood of Jesus, wipe out every uncleanliness within and around my life.
3. Arise Lord, and fight for the salvation of Your people and the nation.
O HAPPY DAY!
