WHEN THINGS FALL APART
Job 42:10-17 (12a) – The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. (NIV)
‘Things Fall Apart’ was an African playlet that glued millions to their novels and TVs in the 20th century. The author, late Chinua Achebe, portrayed the brawl between the Igbo tribe in Nigeria and their colonisers in the 1800s, which saw the protagonist, Okonkwo, hung himself after losing his position as a warrior to the church and Christian norms. Before his death, Okonkwo had beheaded a man and killed himself to avoid being tried in court. The devil, indeed, is the master-minder of every sin (confusion) in the family, business, workplace, society and the church (1 Corinthians 14:33). When things are falling apart, we must be sensitive!
When things fall apart is a tough situation for which you have tried all means but to no benefit. It is a condition needing urgent intervention like the story of Richard, who lost his job and struggled so much that his wife left with the kids (Job 1-2). Jef, a spare-part seller, took a business loan and could not pay due to the poor economy. The banks are after him (2 Kings 4:1-7). Faith, at age 35, had kept faith in God for a good life partner. But, it seems that the more she waits, the longer the delay. Things also fell apart for Job in our Bible reading, and did God not restore him? He was blessed more in his latter than the former!
Beloved, what is your side of the story? Are things okay or falling apart in your life, spiritual walk and career? If yes! We need to check where we missed it and go back to the basics. Similarly, hold on as Job did and trust God to carry you through the storm (Isaiah 40:31; 43:2, 15-19; 55:7-13). However, you must first surrender to Jesus—let Him rebrand your life and give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30).
PRAYER
Hymn: Jesus Saves — Priscilla J. Owens (1882)
1. Father, please forgive my sins (disobedience), cover my shame and give me a new beginning.
2. Lord, turn my present predicament into faith-boosting testimonies (Mention).
3. Holy Spirit, give me wings to fly in destiny.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. I decree that I am a shining light. I shall never go dim!
2. Powers calling my name for evil. The fire of God; answer on my behalf!
3. Please, pray for friends, families, your nation and churches in disarray.
CONGRATULATIONS!
