WHAT GOD HAS AGAINST YOU
Revelation 2:1-7 (4) – Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. (NKJV).
The joy that filled our heart when we accepted Christ is an unexplainable feeling that far exceed that of the newly wedded. Of course, you know how the couple would treat themselves with love and respect. In the same manner and even more, God wants us to continue in that spirit in our relationship with Him. As highlighted to the Church in Ephesus, though they work hard, patient, persevere, labour, hated what God hates, test and discern genuine apostles, but the assembly left their passion for God.
“God is not interested in activities but your surrendered heart to Him.”
This is a lesson for you and me to examine our ways and return our heart to God. As read in verse 5 of our Bible reading, we must revert to what we used to do, in pleasing Him. Hebrews 12:14 tells us that without living holy, eternity with God is unattainable. Therefore, holiness is the primary basis for our relationship with the Father. Personal prayer altar, sincere love for others, giving and soul-winning are equally essential, among others (Philippians 4:8).
The first love also applies to our secular life. Has your affection for your spouse, children and relatives diminished? You need to check where things have gone wrong and resolve them (1 Peter 4:8-11). How has your motivation to excel in life and at the workplace reduced? Go back to the original goal and objectives (Colossians 3:23-24).
In conclusion, beloved, actively study the Scriptures daily, reconnect to praying in the Holy Ghost for His will, power, gift and fruits (1 Corinthians 12; Galatians 5:13-26). When these are done, you become empowered to stand firm in the Lord, and even when temptations arise or repentance is need, it would be earlier to turn back to God.
