WHAT ARE YOU LIVING FOR?

Matthew 6:19-21 (19) – “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. (NIV)

When people die, there would still be a lot of unspent money left in the bank, and people who had no idea how they laboured to acquire the money would sit comfortably and spend it. A story was told of a tycoon who had $1.9 billion in savings after he died. Consequently, his widow married his driver, who inherited part of the wealth. One day, the driver said, “All the while, I thought I was working for my boss, but now I realise my boss was working for me!”

Beloved, no matter our influence and capability, we will never take them with us when we leave this world. Think about the rich people of yesteryear who are now dead. They have been forgotten because not even their closest relatives took the plunge with them into the grave. As seen in today’s Bible reading, our valuables and friendships will fade away, but what we do for Christ will stand. Therefore, it’s more important to build a consistent relationship with God and live for what matters to Him. This year, I encourage you to nurture your soul by studying the scriptures and prioritising the things that are above over the possessions beneath. By this, your spiritual and physical prosperity would be guaranteed (Matthew 6:33).

PRAYER

Hymn: Take My Life and Let It Be – Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)

1. Father, as I live for You, help me to become wise and fruitful.

(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)

1. Father, throughout 2022 and my lifetime, please water my life like a tree planted by the riverside.

2. Father, please give me victory over any battle attached to my destiny this year.

3. Lord Jesus, I don’t want to be spiritually blind and deaf. Please, open my eyes to see visions and my ears to hear timely instructions.

YOU ARE HIGHLY FAVOURED!
