Mark 9:14-26 (19) – “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.” (NIV)

Today’s Bible reading gave an account of when the disciples could not heal the boy possessed by an unclean spirit. This caused Jesus to refer to them as an “unbelieving generation”, and His statement in verse 23 further confirmed that when we believe, all things are possible. Let’s look at it this way. It is impossible to trust and obey someone you don’t believe in, and the same thing applies to spiritual matters. Without believing in God and growing in His knowledge, there won’t be the manifestation of His power.

2 Chronicles 20:20 says, “Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” This means that the key to unlocking God’s reality in your life and circumstances is by believing (faith). You grow in your knowledge of God by studying His Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to inspire you. You can also develop your belief by listening to God’s Word through His genuine prophets and vessels (Romans 10:17).

Beloved, there is a dimension of divine prosperity that you won’t experience until you put your total trust in God. Don’t continue depriving yourself of this benefit by joining the “unbelieving generation” who finds it easy to trust in man and technology rather than God. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you overcome your unbelief, and if you are yet to accept Jesus, do it quickly because there is safety in Him.

Hymn: Trust and Obey – John H. Sammis (1887)

1. Father, help my unbelief. Please, uphold me and make me an epitome of signs and wonders.

1. Father, thank You for making me evidence of Your glory in our generation.

2. Any power using my innocence or impartial involvement against me. Judgement of God, fall upon them.

3. Father, please heal our nation, families and the church of every internal and external pollution!
