Genesis 37:1-11 (9) – Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”(NIV)

The human is made up of the body, soul and spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23). The body is the outer part, the soul is the source of our expression as living beings, while the spirit is the only channel of connection to God and our experience of Him. In a world where aspirations and potentials are likely to be frustrated, our body, soul and spirit should be rightly functional. God has given us the Holy Spirit to inspire us (Job 32:8), our soul must cling to this understanding, and the physical body must act based on the condition of the spirit and soul. In the quest to fulfil destiny, we need God to stay positive, equipped and maximise opportunities.

The spiritual is the foundation of all greatness—Joseph’s experience gives evidence to this truth. As seen in our Bible reading, Joseph’s first step to prominence was through the dreams where he saw his elders bowing to him. It is God that gives dreams, and Joseph’s heart was dependent on the Lord because he made holiness and diligence his principles. The 17-year-old boy acted on these principles when he served in Egypt and rejected the advances of Mrs Potiphar. No wonder he enjoyed the divine presence and eventually became the prime minister at age 30 (Acts 7:9-10). In sum, the spiritual empowered Joseph’s soul to express his Godly virtues and gifting, which then triggered the attainment of his purpose (Genesis 50:20).

Beloved, you surely need God in that spiritual, physical and marital pursuit. Without the divine, soundness of the soul and body, there is no basis for any success. Every man has a natural craving for satisfaction—a void waiting to be filled. This feeling can only be satisfied when we subject our soul and body to the spiritual. By this, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit is in charge (Acts 1:8). Therefore, go all out and fulfil your visions. It is my prayer that as you experience God in a new way, you shall achieve unrivalled results in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Hymn: Standing on the Promises — Russell K. Carter (1886)

1. Father, please make me spiritual. Possess me with Your Holy Spirit and power!

2. Father, please resurrect my dead dreams, vision, talents and virtues.

1. Bread of Heaven and the living water feed me and flow within my life.

2. Father, please make me who You want me to be in my generation. I refuse to be mediocre!

3. Lord Jesus, revive my hope in You and help me see the light in every tunnel of life.
