THE SOWER AND HARVESTER
Isaiah 55:10 – For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: (KJV)
Read: Acts 20:35
Life is about giving and taking. The nature of life requires that the measure of an input determines the proportion of the output. In 1 Kings 17:10–24, the widow of Zarephath had one last meal to feed herself and her son. However, Prophet Elijah requested that the woman prepare the meal for him to eat. The woman obeyed, and the obedience launched her into the realm of prosperity. Even when her son later mysteriously passed away, the same prophet was able to revive him.
There is a time for sowing and a time for eating. Today’s Bible reading says the rain waters the earth and causes it to yield resources for those who qualify for harvest. In other words, only the sowers have access to the season of harvest. This is because rain will only germinate the seeds already sown.
Beloved, if you desire to achieve great things, you must sow bountifully. Like the widow of Zarephath, commit to giving sacrificially in every good work. You can give your last portion of food, gifts, and shelter and show kindness to people. It could also be giving your time and talent and going on evangelism. As you do this diligently, your blessings are guaranteed. This is because it is more blessed to give than to receive!
