THE REASON FOR YOUR DELAY!
Genesis 41:46-57 (57) – And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere. (NIV)
I once thought to myself why God would wait for two years before causing Joseph to be remembered by the chief butler. The Holy Spirit then spoke, ‘God was preparing him for the responsibility and glory ahead.’ This is true because every warrior is a conqueror of many battles—there is always a story behind the glory. In other words, Joseph must have been praying and sharpening his skills (gifting) and possibly learning more about Egypt. No wonder he stirred the nation back from famine to prosperity, as seen in our Bible reading.
Quite recently, I asked myself again why it was the chief butler that was saved instead of the baker. The Spirit of truth responded one more time, ‘the chief butler is the head servant while the baker only works in the kitchen. Therefore, the chief butler would have had direct access to Pharaoh than the baker giving him the opportunity to recommend Joseph (Genesis 40-41).
Beloved, if there is anything to learn today, it is that there is a reason for your delay because Joseph’s imprisonment was divinely-planned so he could get to the throne while the palace workers found themselves in prison because Joseph needed someone that must speak of him to the king.
God is always up to something when we do not cease to pray. Has He promised you anything? If yes! Wait for it, and in the waiting, engage more in prayers and self-development because you cannot afford to be idle or complacent. Besides, you must understand the divine purpose for your life and situations. Above all, no matter the matter, look beyond the present and rest in the sureness of the Lord. He will come through for you (Isaiah 41:10-14).
PRAYER
Hymn: Leaning on the Everlasting Arms — Elisha A. Hoffman & Anthony J. Showalter (1887)
1. Father, help me to understand the divine cause for my life and the waiting.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, please revive my destiny and give me a gift that will:
a. Announce You in me.
b. Connect me with the high and mighty.
c. Bring me out of shame and poverty.
WAIT ON THE LORD!
