THE PRESENCE OF JONAH
Jonah 1:12-16 (15) – Then the sailors picked Jonah up and threw him into the raging sea, and the storm stopped at once! (NLT)
After Jonah refused God’s directive to go to Nineveh, he took a ship to Tarshish instead. On the journey, God caused a terrible wind to disrupt the ship. The sailors were so afraid that they prayed and even threw their loads into the sea to lighten the ship, but all to no avail. Later, the people identified Jonah as the reason for their troubles. As seen in today’s Bible reading, they threw Jonah into the sea, and the raging sea became calm.
There are complex issues in life, business, and family that defy physical explanation. Many people have done everything humanly possible, but their problems persist. It is sometimes because of a persisting sin or the presence of a fellow in their lives who has been marked for destruction. If the sailors had not identified Jonah, they could all have ignorantly perished.
In every phase of life, there are people like Jonah who need to be ejected lest others suffer for their sake. The presence of such individuals causes insecurity and closed-heavens. This is why you should examine your boat of association, devotion to God, career, and marriage to rid yourself of the unwanted stranger. My prayer for you is that you will never be a victim of the errors of others, in Jesus’ name.
On the other hand, if you are the Jonah in others’ boats, it is time to repent and pray. When you obey God’s instructions, He will direct your path and erase every consequence of sin in your life.

1. I refuse to die of spiritual and physical ignorance.
2. Father, break every wall of ignorance blocking my vision and discernment.
3. Any Jonah, assigned to rock my boat of health, destiny, and marriage, get out!

2. Holy Spirit, fill me with the ability to do exploit in my generation.
