THE LORD’S ANGER
Psalms 68:1-2 (1) – God shall arise, his enemies shall be scattered; and those who hate him shall flee before him! (ESV)
God is merciful, considerate, loving and slow to anger (Psalms 145:8). But, He can be vexed! It is my prayer that none of us shall experience His wrath, in Jesus’ name. In the Book of Numbers 14:2, the Israelites murmured and Moses got provoked so that he overreacted (20:1-13). Then, God spoke: ‘Thou shall not enter the promised land’ (vs 12). Another example is King Nebuchadnezzar who boasted about his achievements. However, he was humbled because God resists the proud (Proverbs 16:18-19). This once great king lost his sanity and lived like an animal for seven years. After this period, Nebuchadnezzar was restored and he honoured the Lord (Daniel 4:28-37).
Further, as read in today’s Bible reading, when God arises, His enemies flee and melt like wax because nothing can withstand His wrath (Deuteronomy 4:24). However, who are God’s enemies? They are the forces of darkness which rebel against His children. Therefore, the question is: ‘If you are His bona fide child?’ Because if you live aright (Jeremiah 15:16), your adversaries become God’s opponents (Isaiah 49:25). On the other hand, if you are living in sin, remember that you cannot serve two masters. God hates sin (Proverbs 14:34); He is angry with the wicked every day (Psalm 7:11) and does not want us to operate under closed heavens (Isaiah 59:1-2).
Beloved, check yourself today and be a friend of God so that He can take over your battles! As you accept or rededicate to Jesus, you shall never perish because eternity is sure (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Hymn: Jesus Saves – Priscilla J. Owens (1882)
1. Father, I cannot stand Your judgement. Please, have mercy and forgive me for… (confess).
1. Holy Spirit of God! Break the backbone of disobedience, pride and anger in me.
2. Arise, oh Lord! Please, fight my battles and that of my family, nation and the church.
3. Curses of errors at the verge of glory, be cancelled in my life, marriage and business!
PRAY FOR US!
