THE LAST HOUR!
Matthew 19:27-30 (30) – But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first. (NIV)
Madam was an epitome of righteousness despite being hated by people who thought she was too spiritual. However, something happened after one church service—madam had a minor quarrel with a young choirmaster. This incidence pained her, and she could not just forgive (malice), but unfortunately, that night, she died! (Luke 21:34-36). What a sorrowful ending it was for this woman because she slipped from the ladder of glory at a few moments to death.
On the other hand, a criminal whom for reasons of atrocities committed was nailed alongside Christ and yet, was saved at last (Luke 23:32-43; Romans 9:15). No wonder, in today’s Bible reading, after Jesus had told Peter what rewards await those who have followed Him, He then said: the first will be bottom and the last shall be head. In other words, to make heaven is not by our services but about the condition of our heart at the judgement (Hebrews 9:27-28). Therefore, there would be that ‘so-called sinner’ in paradise, while the devoted Christian may end up in hell because it is our actions that determine our eternal destination.
Beloved, have you decided to follow Jesus? If yes! You must consciously examine yourself and be vigilant because no one knows the hour (Matthew 24:35-42). To people who still live in sin, remember that you can fool others, but can never deceive God. Therefore, if you have killed, robbed, forged documents, committed fornication, adultery and abortion(s), bear false witness or belong to a secret cult, among other things; repent and surrender to Jesus. He shall transform you into His nature! (2 Corinthians 5:17).
