THE GOOD OF YOUR FATHER
Genesis 28:12-15 (13) – There above it Stood the LORD, and he said: “I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. (NIV)
God is a great rewarder and a punisher of iniquities, which explains why the unrepentant generations still suffer the consequences of their ancestors’ atrocities (Numbers 14:18). But God can also remember the good of your father’s house for your sake. When God considers the labours of your parents and His promises to your forefathers, history will be made. We see an excellent example in 2 Samuel 9, where Mephibosheth, who had been forgotten in sorrow, was suddenly remembered because of the deeds of his father (Jonathan).
In our Bible reading, God also activated the Abrahamic covenant in the lives of Jacob and his children because of his grandfather’s obedience. The good news today is that anyone in Christ can be a partaker of Abraham’s blessings. Galatians 3:29 says, “And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.” Therefore, if you are not born again, you are missing out on your inheritance. I encourage you to surrender your life to Jesus to claim your divine portion.
Finally, I prophesy that wherever you have been written off, because of your good and your parents’ generosity, God is about to change your story, in Jesus’ name.
Hymn: My Faith Looks Up to Thee — Ray Palmer (1830)
1. Father, please forgive my sins and those of my ancestors, and remember me for good.
2. Father, remember the good of my father’s house and favour my land.
3. Pray for your children and loved ones.
1. Father, this month, take me from the land of slavery to the palace.
2. Evil voice crying out my name and glory in the dark, be silenced by the blood of Jesus.
3. Father, please make my good vision and that of the Church a reality this year!
