Daniel 3:15-18 (18) – But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. (KJV)

Read: Proverbs 9:10

Everyone wants to excel and have a good life. But the truth is that there are conditions to be met to attain greatness. One of the conditions is that God must be the foremost priority in your life. In today’s Bible reading, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego made God their backbone and never denied Him, even when others did. What happened after was that God showed up for these Hebrew men and caused them to be promoted.

The second and third conditions are that you must have the fear of the Lord and be diligent. In Genesis 39:5-23, Joseph’s refusal to sleep with his master’s wife was the defining moment of his destiny. The boy declined Mrs Potiphar’s offer only because he had the fear of God and not the fear of man. For this reason, Joseph enjoyed divine wisdom because the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Joseph went on to apply this wisdom and rescue Egypt from the food crisis.

Beloved, if you are to fulfil God’s purpose for your life, you should be ready to emulate Joseph and the Hebrew men. In the home and in your circle of influence, endeavour to be faithful and have the fear of God. In business or your career, be honest, hardworking, and invest more. As a student, intense study and research will get you top grades. If you seek spiritual growth, holiness, Bible study, and a vibrant prayer life are important. Above all, ask the Holy Spirit to guide and guard you on the path to accomplishing what God wants you to be. It shall be well with you!

Hymn: More About Jesus – Eliza E. Hewitt (1887)

1. Holy Spirit, please give me the grace to be righteous, the strength to be disciplined, and the ability to pay the price for glory!

1. Alone with God — cry out to Him!
