1 Corinthians 3:1-5 (2) – I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. (NIV)

Read: Galatians 5:22-26

Spiritual growth is an essential requirement for glorious living. In today’s Bible reading, Apostle Paul told the Corinthian Church that they were worldly and not ready for solid spiritual food because they could not chew or digest it. If Paul had proceeded to feed them solid food, it would have been like feeding a newborn with bread.

Many Christians who claim to have been born again are still carnal and spiritually immature. In character and by their fruits, they are religious and find it hard to exercise their spirit or submit to what will make them develop spiritually. This gives room for the works of the flesh to manifest in such fellows through envy, pride, unforgiveness, greed, immorality, and nursing superstitious beliefs. All these reasons contribute to why the seeds sown in the body of Christ have failed to germinate in people’s lives.

Beloved, spiritual growth is important if you are to become great and live a life that pleases God. You can’t be a baby and eat solid food. It is impossible! You need to first discard your sins, accept Christ, and gradually grow in the will of the Father by subjecting your body to the Holy Spirit. He will guide your path and keep you from falling. Through this, your growth and greatness will not be questioned.

Hymn: Draw Me Nearer – Frances J. Crosby (1875)

1. Repent of anything that is causing spiritual weakness in your life.

2. Father, revive my spiritual life and open my eyes to the understanding of what I must do to be divinely great.

1. Holy Ghost, please take over my life, body, soul, and spirit.

2. I decree that I will not lose my secure position in Christ and in my destiny. My mind is being reshaped to conform to God’s purpose!

3. I receive the grace to live beyond the physical.
