THE EFFICACY OF PRAISE (3)
Matthew 11:12 – From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. (ESV)
Nothing comes easy in life. To rise and shine, start and complete a project, marry and conceive, experience spiritual growth and the breakthroughs such as healing and open doors require effort because, as seen in our Bible reading, we must take our possession by force lest we die unfulfilled. This effort involves both the spiritual and the physical. That is, the supernatural should supersede the physical, even though they must go together.
An excellent example of a spiritual force we can adopt is the ‘shout of praise to God’. In Joshua 6, after the gates of Jericho was shut so that nobody could go in or out, the Lord instructed Joshua that they should step around the city once daily for six days blowing trumpets. On the 7th day, they were to march seven times and specifically, on the 7th round, the people must shout aloud at the blast of the trumpets. Therefore, the army of Israel obeyed, and the wall of Jericho fell.
The first thing we can learn from this case study is that it confirms that praising God is a combination of spiritual and physical acts. After God’s instruction, the people moved into action to shout. This sound was not an ordinary one. It was an effort carried out intentionally and in spirit. The second thing to note is that praises can be an unforeseen missile just as it crashed the Jericho wall. Therefore, to achieve anything tangible in destiny, apart from diligence and praying, make praising God your conscious and spirit-led lifestyle. With this physical commitment, you directly activate the spiritual weaponry in praise wherein every Jericho-like situation crumbles.
