THE DAYS ARE EVIL
Ephesians 5:14-18 (16) – Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. (NLT)
Today’s Bible reading admonishes us to wake up as wise ones and utilise every opportunity because the days are evil. Apostle Paul said this because he was familiar with the perspective that each day could be his last having been beaten, shipwrecked, and imprisoned (2 Corinthians 11:24–28). The days are evil could also mean that Christ would return at any time (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18). Consequently, we must live holy as one day at a time and spread the gospel in preparation for eternity!
Further, verses 17-18 tells us to recognise God’s will and get filled with the Holy Ghost. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, our life’s path should align with heaven’s agenda because without direction; we may get entrapped in these costly days (Psalms 32:8). Therefore, we must be conscious of ‘the evil days’, to work and never waste time, chances and resources. Let’s give our best now and serve God with our strength (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
Beloved, how many hours do you spend on TV and phone as against the time spent on the Word, praying, working or self-development? Think about it! Don’t wait until you are old before you do things you could have done earlier. Time is of the essence. Get up and live to please God!
Hymn: One Day at a Time – Marilyn Sellars (1974)
1. Father, please help me to maximise time and resources; to do the right things at Your leading.
(THE MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. I nullify every arrow of death fired against me and return it to the sender.
2. Father, invalidate the works of darkness in my life, nation and the church.
3. Please pray for the vessel and our ministry.
BE BORN AGAIN!
