TEN COMMANDMENTS (3)

1 Thessalonians 5:22-24 (22) – Reject every kind of evil. (NIV)

6. You shall not kill.

To kill someone is an abomination that comes with a curse (Cain — Genesis 4:1-15) and the death penalty (Numbers 35:30-31). It is not only those who kill with objects that are murderers, but those that hate their fellow human(s) have also indirectly slain the person (1 John 2:3-17; 3:15). How many people have you slaughtered with your mouth, thoughts, plot, handiwork, wrong judgement, envy, anger, and gossips? If any! Cease from these evil acts so that the Lord can have mercy on you.

7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.

When an unmarried person has sexual intercourse, it is called fornication (Mark 7:18-23). When a married individual has a sexual relationship outside matrimony, he or she has committed adultery (Luke 16:18, Mark 10:1-12). Both actions are grievous sins against God and one’s body (1 Corinthians 6:9-20). Nevertheless, it is not only when we practically perform the act that we sin, anyone who looks at another person (mostly opposite sex) with lust has transgressed in his heart (Matthew 5:17-32). Masturbation and pornography are other self-indulgence that lures us into defiling the body which is the Lord’s temple (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).

Are you that fellow who can’t but seduce or sleep with anything under a skirt, trouser and the married? You are foolish, says the Bible (Proverbs 6:20-35), because while you think you are enjoying, you are ignorantly exposing yourself to diseases, loss of self-value and damnation (Revelation 21:8). Peradventure, you are a spouse cheating on your partner; you are walking on the red line. Repent! (Proverbs 5). Are you a student or an intended couple already living together? Get married to avoid immorality (1 Corinthians 7:2, 9).

Beloved, if you are guilty of any of the above sins, including murder, you can receive divine mercy if you confess your sins to God and repent (1 John 1:8-9). After this, as seen in our Bible reading, flee immediately from iniquities because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

PRAYER

Hymn: Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose — Charlotte Elliott (1836)

1. Father, please show me Thy mercy and cleanse me with Your blood.

2. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you stay undefiled.

(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)

1. Mark of rejection placed on me against my gainful employment, favour and open doors. Be erased by the blood of Jesus.

2. Arrows of infirmity, immorality, disappointment at the edge of a breakthrough and marital delays (mention), go back to sender!

3. Favour of God that will make a way of success for me, fall upon my life.

4. Glory of God, elevate my family, nation, the Church and I
