TAKE OUT THE “JONAH”

When God told Jonah to go to Nineveh, he refused and went the opposite way to board a ship from the port of Joppa to Tarshish. On the journey, the Lord caused a terrible wind that threatened to topple the ship. The sailors eventually identified Jonah as the reason for their turbulence, and they threw him down the sea so that peace was immediately restored (Jonah 1:1-17).
There are numerous tragedies that occur on a bus, cruise ship, aeroplane, or at work that may be the result of one person who is labelled for destruction. If the ship’s crew had not thrown Jonah out, they all would have perished!
As you approach the end of the year, you must watch out for people with a Jonah-like attitude of disobedience. This is because every Jonah in the boat of your life, in your career, and in your marital destiny must be exposed and dissociated from so you don’t innocently suffer for their sins.
I encourage you to also examine yourself to know if you are a Jonah. If, peradventure, you discover that whenever you involve yourself in a project, it starts to crumble, or you notice that your arrival at a place normally causes an unwelcoming atmosphere, it’s time to reflect and pray! It may be that you have sinned against God, for which He wants you to repent, as Jonah did in our Bible reading. Confess your iniquities and be saved to enjoy a new year of rest!

A. If I am Jonah, Father, please forgive and cleanse me!
B. Please, give me a second chance, Lord Jesus!

1. I refuse to be a victim of circumstance, and my loved ones shall not die nor suffer for the atrocities of others.
2. Spend quality time to thank God for the year thus far.
