SUN, STAND STILL
Joshua 10:1-15 (12) – On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” (NIV)
We understand from today’s Bible reading that God was with Joshua and the troops because He rained down hailstones on the Amorites (vs 11). The day was uncommon because the hailstones killed more enemies than the sword. However, what was more important was the prayer Joshua prayed—“Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon” (vs 12b). Joshua wanted more time to fulfil God’s assurance of victory (vs 8). And for 24 hours, the earth obeyed! There has never been a time when God heeded the voice of a man like that day (vs 14). Therefore, as the Lord protected Israel, Joshua fought in activating God’s promise!
Beloved, when the Lord reveals His mind and His people are ready to obey, the only thing required is the time to activate it. The good news is that God also supplies time! This month as always, God has given His Word and the time for accomplishment. So, what are you doing about it? Do you even know God’s purpose for your life? Joshua did; he prayed, and everything stood still—Are you also ready to break limits by activating God’s will this year? Be wise! Redeem the time and maximise each day for heaven’s use and personal development (Ephesians 5:15-17). It shall be well with you!
