STAND OUT

Daniel 1:3-8 – But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. (8-NIV)

To stand out is to be positively unique by dissociating oneself from the worldly norm, thereby pleasing God where others compromise. In today’s Bible reading, the king requests physically fit and intelligent young men to serve in the palace. The men were to be trained and have their daily food and wine from the king’s table. However, among these men was Daniel, who chose to be different by not eating and defiling himself with the king’s meat.

Daniel had the opportunity to use the royal platform for personal nourishment and to launch into fame. But he stuck to his decision and stood out for God. There is absolutely nothing that is done for God that He does not reward. When we stay diligently peculiar for God’s sake and His righteousness, He will cause our promotion to exceed human comprehension. This was Daniel’s testimony because God gave him vision, wisdom, and revelation, and he eventually became the chief of governors in the land after he did exploits (Daniel 2:48).

Beloved, the king’s meat can represent moral decadence in our society. The king’s table in our generation has the wine of perdition and the seductive food of false doctrines served on it. However, there is a charge for us never to eat this meat or partake of the king’s table. At work, in church, and in the community, be known for Christ and uprightness. This is because, out of darkness, light shines brighter (John 1:5). Be a light and stand out like Daniel. It shall always be well with you!

PRAYER OF DECREE

Hymn: Standing on the promises of Christ my King – Russell Kelso Carter (1886)

1. I (name), receive the strength to stand firm for God and be diligent to His leading, come what may! Therefore, where others complain, I declare that I am blessed and will inspire the world for Jesus. So help me, God!

(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)

1. Where others faint, I will soar higher and overflow in health and favour.

2. Father, extinguish completely every deposit of past pain and failure in my life.

3. Pray in the Holy Ghost until you have peace.
