Jeremiah 29:11-14 (13) – And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart (KJV).
An industrial manager lost his treasured watch in a large warehouse, and after searching thoroughly, he gave up so that he beckoned on a group of children for help. He promised to reward anyone who found the watch. Hearing this, the children searched the depot but couldn’t find it. Just when the manager was about to lose hope, a little boy asked for another chance. The boss looked at him and thought, ‘Why not?’ After some time, the boy came out with the watch! The manager was delighted but astonished, and so he asked the boy how he succeeded where others couldn’t. The boy replied, ‘I did nothing but sat on the floor to listen. In the silence, I heard the ticking of the watch.’
Beloved, you will agree that a peaceful heart thinks better than a worked-up mind (Isaiah 26:3). Often the noise in our lives is so much with no clarity on what to do (James 1:8), and the head seems to get occupied with thoughts that promote sin, fear and discouragement (Philippians 4:6-7). Nevertheless, I urge you always to let peace guard your heart. Clear your soul to seek the Lord when He may be found as seen in our Bible reading (Isaiah 55:6). Grow with God silently, patiently listen and cultivate a relationship with Him (Matthew 6:4, 6 & 18; John 10:27).
Finally, remember that ‘A seed grows with no sound, but a tree falls with a huge crash. Destruction has clamour, but creation is silent.’ In your success, remain noiseless and humble because there is power in silence! No wonder Proverbs 17:27-28 says:
He who has knowledge spares his words, And a man of understanding is of a calm spirit… (NKJV)
God bless you!
Hymn: More About Jesus — Eliza E. Hewitt (1887)
1. Father, clear every distraction in my relationship with You.
1. Father, please help me to be a spiritual and active Christian in all my doings.
2. Powers assigned to track me, family and the church down, scatter!
3. I decree that I shall never go back to square one. When I call, help shall answer!
4. By this time tomorrow, dumbfounding testimonies shall fill my mouth!
