SILENCE IS RISKY

SILENCE IS RISKY

Matthew 14:22-31 (30) – But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted (NLT).

Peter was walking on the sea when the wind suddenly became turbulent so that he began to sink. But he never kept quiet or pretended to be okay; he screamed: “Lord, save me!” In Luke 23:32-43, one of the thieves nailed with Jesus discovered that his silence could be detrimental; thus, he voiced out and received salvation even at the last minute. Bartimaeus also knew that the only way to get help was to cry out. Therefore, despite attempts to stop him, he shouted a great deal until he got Christ’s attention.

Why have you remained silent on God when you can seek Him? Perhaps the reason is that you have an alternative source of help, unlike the man at the Pool of Bethesda who said to Jesus: “I have no one to help me into the pool…” (John 5:7). This man got his healing from Jesus because he spoke out. Are you also desperate for a change? When you are sinking in the ocean of sorrows, confusion, loneliness, stagnation, spiritual blindness, health, financial and marital crisis, keeping silent to your helper might be a dangerous thing (John 14:14; 16:23-24).

Beloved, relate to God today as Peter did in our Bible reading and see Him hearken unto your call (Psalms 50:15). Take note that you can also speak to trusted people who can be of help and guidance because “A sealed mouth is a closed destiny.” Do Not Be Quiet!
