SHOW UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

1 Peter 4:8 – Above all, love each other warmly, because love covers many sins. (GW)

Read: 1 Corinthians 13:1-8; Romans 12:9-21

A soldier who was returning to his country after a war called his parents and said, “Mum and Dad, I’m coming home with a friend”. “Sure, we’d love to meet him”, they replied. “There’s something you should know. My friend stepped on a landmine and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere to go, and I want him to live with us.” said the son. This time, the parents responded, “Maybe we can help him find somewhere else. Someone with such a disability would be a terrible burden on us. We’ve got our own lives to live. Forget about this guy. He’ll find a way to live on his own.”

A few days later, the parents received a call saying that their son had committed suicide. The devastated parents flew over and could recognise their son’s body, but to their shock, they discovered he had only one arm and one leg.

There are many people who are like these parents. They find it easy to love those that look good or are fun to have around, but they disregard the ones they feel are not as healthy, wealthy, beautiful, or smart. Whether as a parent or not, as seen in today’s Bible reading, unconditional love must be the guiding principle. Be sensitive, listen to, and care for the children, family members, and humanity in general.

Beloved, Christ should be the example to follow. He will never treat people based on their circumstances. He loves everyone unconditionally and welcomes even the worst sinners with open arms when they repent. I encourage you to come to the saving grace of Christ, to surrender all, and therefore be like Him in these present times to show genuine love. By doing this, you will make a difference in the lives of people.

PRAYER

Hymn: Because He First Loved Me – Fanny Crosby (1820-1915)

1. Ask the Holy Spirit for a heart like Jesus’ to love, understand, and accept people as they are.

(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)

1. Father, help me to love without a reason and grant me the resources to make an impact.

2. Father, give me the power to rise above any storms.

3. Pray in the Holy Ghost.

PRACTICALISE YOUR LOVE!
