SACRIFICING AND ASKING
John 16:23-24 (24) – Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. (NKJV)
Matthew 7:7–11 teaches about the act of “asking, seeking, and knocking,” but people often focus only on Matthew 7:7 while neglecting the other verses, which clearly state God’s promises. Verse 9–11 says, “If the wicked parents would never give stones or snakes to their children whenever they asked for bread and fish, how much more will the heavenly Father give to anyone who asks for His help?”
Many times, people get carried away by the size of their challenges and forget that there is a God who cares to listen and can give whatever is desired. In 2 Chronicles 1:1–12, God appeared to Solomon and presented him with a life-changing opportunity to ask for whatever he wanted. This happened after Solomon gave a bountiful offering, but the focus here is that he “asked” God for what he needed (wisdom), and God gave him wealth as an extra blessing.
Beloved, regardless of what you need today, have you also thought of what you are willing to sacrifice to God so the windows of heaven can open wide for a release of your mega blessings? There are several sacrifices you can offer to God. Your altar of salvation and holiness, praying and waiting on God, evangelism, and giving are forms of sacrifice. Once you have decided on which sacrifice you want to offer, you will humble your heart to receive and open your mouth to ask boldly. This is because, as seen in our Bible reading, God is saying directly to you, “Ask until your joy is full”. Go ahead and pray!
PRAYER
Hymn: Trust and Obey – John H. Sammis (1887)
1. Think of what you can sacrifice to God. Then, with humility, tell Him to be merciful unto you and bless you!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Thank God for everything!
2. Ask whatever you desire from God, including the hard things.
“Until you cultivate the habit of sacrificing to God and asking with thanksgiving, you may continue to miss out on divine entitlement.”
