REBUILD YOUR INTEGRITY
Psalms 118:22-23 (22) – The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; (NIV)
Two men caught stealing sheep were branded on the forehead with the letters ‘ST’ for ‘sheep thief’. One of them immediately relocated to build a new life. Even in the foreign land, people asked about the ‘ST’ on his head, and because he was unable to bear the shame, he gave up! The other man took a different approach. He said to himself, ‘I can’t erase the fact that I stole sheep. But that’s past! I can stay here and win back my respect’.
The years passed, and this man rebuilt a reputation for integrity. One day, a stranger saw him, now old, with the letters ‘ST’ on his forehead and asked the people what the letters stood for. They replied, ‘It happened a long time ago. We have forgotten the details, but it seems the letters are an abbreviation for Saint.’
Beloved, never neglect your weaknesses—deal with them, and the world will forget your failures. Don’t cover up your sins because they can later ruin your life (Proverbs 28:13-14). Yes! It is not good that you stumbled, but it becomes life-wrecking not to correct your wrongs (Jeremiah 26:13). Remember that Paul was formerly a dreaded persecutor of Christians before becoming a great apostle (1 Corinthians 15:9-10). You can also rebuild your integrity! It may be a rough journey, but you’ll eventually become a cornerstone as affirmed in our Bible reading.
