PUT ON JESUS!
1 John 2:1-6 (6) – Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (NIV)
Read: 2 Corinthians 4:8-11; 5:17
A boy was segregated because he was born with an awful facial deformity. When he reached adulthood, he decided to move to another city to start a new life. On his way, he saw a beautiful mask that fit his face, making him look handsome. At first, the man felt very uncomfortable putting on the cover because he was afraid that people would know him. However, he continued wearing it. He made friends and fell in love. One day, someone from his old town discovered the man’s true identity and forced him to remove the mask publicly. After he removed it, a handsome face was revealed—his face had conformed to the shape of the mask.
This is similar to being like Christ. Though your past may be as red as scarlet, when you receive salvation, you transform into God’s nature and begin to live like Jesus. This is affirmed by our Bible text. It pays to continually live and put on Jesus. Initially, it would feel strange and inconvenient because friends and relatives would mock you by reminding you of your dirty history. But never be moved or afraid. The old you is dead, and the new you is alive. Focus on studying the Word and praying as you rely on the Holy Spirit. Daily, you will grow to look more like Jesus.
Beloved, are you still basking in sin or saved but battling with your old self? Come to Jesus today or rededicate yourself to Him. There is peace and hope in Him!
PRAYER
Hymn: Jesus Saves — Priscilla J. Owens (1882)
1. Father, please disremember my mistakes, pardon my sins, and deliver me from the scars of the past.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, I thank You for my existence, liberty, and daily bread.
2. I shall not be found liable for errors or crimes I never committed.
3. Anointing for ease and exploit, rest upon my life!
4. I refuse to lack in the midst of abundance.
