PRAY FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND ENEMIES
Job 42:10-13 (10) – After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before. (NIV)
An interesting thing to note in today’s Bible reading is that Job experienced restoration only after he prayed for his friends. Job was once wealthy but suddenly lost everything, and to make matters worse, his friends believed his troubles were caused by the sins he committed. Regardless, Job looked beyond the misinformation and prayed for his friends. Job prioritised his friends’ needs in the place of prayer, and God acted quickly to restore him in many more ways.
It must have been a tough decision for Job to pray for the good of those who hurt him. But this action was what triggered his divine recovery. This shows that there is power in intercession, especially when the person interceding is in distress and requires help but chooses to pray for others. Beloved, when you give adequate time to pray for those who you find hard to forgive and for God’s people, the multiplier effect comes into play. This means that God will do more for you as you carry other people’s burdens in prayer.
Therefore, just as Job did, your first task is to start praying for your family, friends, and those who offended you. This is because the answer to your prayers might be attached to your sacrifice of prayer for others. Above all, the Almighty God is glorified when we lift others in prayer.
Hymn: I Must Tell Jesus – Elisha A. Hoffman (1894)
1. Spend quality time praying for your “so-called” enemies and friends.
2. Father, please turn my shame to my glory announcer (mention).
1. By the power in Jesus’ name, any mouth cursing me, dry up!
2. Father, please give me a new wine, and make me a useful vessel for Your kingdom service.
3. Please pray for Nigeria!
4. Father, uproot any negative imaginations from the soul of my heart.
YOUR LIFE SHALL BE COLOURFUL AGAIN!
