PAY YOUR BILL
2 Kings 5:19-27 (27) – Naaman’s leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever.” Then Gehazi went from Elisha’s presence and his skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow. (NIV)
Read: Ezekiel 18-19
A noticeboard outside an eatery reads, “Eat as much as you can; your grandchildren will pay the bill.” A man entered the eatery, ate all he could, and was relaxing when the waiter gave him the bill. He laughed, pointing to the information board, and said, “Can’t you see? My grandchildren will pay.” The waiter replied, “This is not your bill; it’s your grandfather’s bill.” The man fainted!
People can be very selfish to feel so calm about piling up liabilities for their upcoming generations as long as they don’t have to bear the consequences of their own actions. This was what Gehazi did when he dubiously collected the gift from Naaman in our Bible reading. The greed of Gehazi brought the plague of leprosy upon him and his descendants.
Beloved, examine yourself to see if you fall into the categories of the man at the eatery and Gehazi. When you make people suffer for your wickedness while pretending to be a saint so you can be in the good books of others, it is a terrible sin, and you must repent. This is because what goes around comes around. God is the Father of mercy and also of judgement. Whatever you do outside God’s standard puts you in danger of satanic manipulation and divine judgement. Make restitution today before it is too late and live a genuine Godly life. By doing this, you won’t suffer the repercussions of your past sins or your parents’ errors.
Hymn: Are You Washed in the Blood? — Elisha A. Hoffman (1878)
1. Father, please forgive me and my parents for every sin and atrocity we have committed!
1. Blood of Jesus! Cancel any voice of vengeance crying against me, my family, and my nation.
2. Father, cover every nakedness resulting from my negative history.
3. Whatever will make the hospital my family and friends’ home this year, Father, take them away!
