PAY THE PRICE FOR THE PRIZE
Proverbs 23:18 – There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. (NIV)
The Bible tells the story of Elisha, who served Elijah diligently and got the double portion of his anointing. After Elijah left with the chariots of fire, Elisha also had a servant (Gehazi) who should have possessed his mantle. But because Gehazi was in a haste to profit from his master, he dubiously collected money from Naaman, and he missed the opportunity to inherit Elisha’s anointing. This means that Gehazi would have been more powerful than Elijah fourfold, but he fell to greed (2 Kings 5:20-27).
There are people who aspire to be like God’s generals and fathers in the faith, but they are unwilling to pay the price of diligence in prayer and lifestyle. There is a process for everything. There are steps involved before you can command the forces of darkness to obey. Some of these actions are living a life of holiness, praying, studying the scriptures, and being committed to God and His kingdom service.
There are also the unprepared youths who jump into marriage because of sex, or family and peer pressure, only to end up disappointed. I encourage you to wait on God and not proceed with your own plan until He speaks.
Beloved, if you are struggling with your developmental stage, based on today’s Bible reading, hold on to learning and observing because there is hope for you. Serve carefully and don’t emerge before your due season. You will get to your destination, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
