Luke 23:32-43 (42) – Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. (NIV)
There is a place we are going after our sojourn on earth—a city made of gold as of crystal glass (Revelation 21:9-25). Heaven is that great home for the righteous (Revelation 21:27), while hell is the destination for unrepentant souls (Matthew 13:37-51). Knowing these, we must continually check our works if they align with God’s principles. It is my prayer that the Lord shall help you and me, in Jesus’ name.
In today’s Bible reading, one of the thieves nailed alongside Jesus made it to eternity because he received salvation. On the other hand, Judas Iscariot, a disciple of Christ, ended up in the lake of fire (Matthew 27:3-5). Similarly, in Luke 16:19-31, Lazarus, the beggar, made it to paradise whereas the rich man went straight into the place of torment.
Beloved, have you been faithful in living for God? If yes! Glory be to God. But, take heed, lest you miss out on eternity because the so-called righteous fellow may land in perdition while a criminal could be on his way to paradise if he repents (1 Corinthians 10:12-13). Therefore, you may have robbed, killed or had a series of abortions, among other sins, but if you surrender to Jesus, He shall blot out your iniquities and give you a new life (Isaiah 1:18; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
Hymn: In Christ Alone – Keith Getty & Stuart Townsend (2001)
1. Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that You died so I can be saved. Please, have mercy and forgive my sins (confess).
2. Holy Spirit, I need You every moment. Dwell afresh in me to lead my path till the end.
1. Any power that wants my life, career, marriage, and the church to move anti-clockwise; be crushed!
2. Every door, shut against my prosperity; open by fire!
3. I shall not fail at the edge of breakthroughs.
WITH CHRIST, NO GUILT IN LIFE NOR FEAR IN DEATH!
