Matthew 25:14-30 (30)
And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (KJV)

Every human has two mandates to fulfil in life—the Adamic mandate and the divine mandate. The Adamic mandate originates from our quest to attain material achievements, while the divine mandate is God’s plan for our existence. When God’s plan drives our personal ambition, it will be easy to understand our purpose. As the late Myles Munroe said, “When purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable.” You can only value your life more when you know the divine cause for your existence (Isaiah 43:7 & 21).

On the other hand, when we fail to conform to the divine mandate, we risk being struck out. In today’s Bible reading, three servants were given five bags of gold, two bags, and one bag, respectively. The servants with five and two bags invested and gained double, while the servant with one bag buried his own. When the master returned, he rewarded the profitable servants and cast the unprofitable one into darkness. In the same way, if you buy a product and discover that it does not serve its function, you will discard it because it is deemed unfit for purpose. God has a substitute for unfulfilled people and a reward for those who fulfil their purpose (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Beloved, your purpose is not a riddle; it is given to you to accomplish. If you fail at it, you will be accountable to God. Therefore, it is important to regularly go to God in prayer to reveal your purpose and His intention for every stage of your life.

Hymn: I Must Tell Jesus — Elisha A. Hoffman (1894)

  1. Father, I don’t want to be an unprofitable servant. Help me fulfil my destiny.

  1. I refuse to be like a snake passing on a rock. Father, help me make an impact on my generation.
  2. Father, please do not cast me away. Show me mercy and give me another chance.
  3. I declare that nothing will be broken or missing in my life or community this month.
