LIVING IN THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF GOD THROUGH THANKSGIVING
Psalms 34:1-22 (1) – I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. (KJV)
During Christ’s dispensation [on earth], He often referred to His Father because it was through God’s presence that He did great exploits (Acts 10:38). Jesus never took the glory for Himself; more so, He acknowledged God before performing miracles. He reverenced the union with His Father and gave thanks always (John 6:10-12; 10:30; 11:41-44).
We see another example of David; a man after God’s heart (1 Samuel 13:14). He was so addicted to worship to the extent that he praised God after his son’s death (2 Samuel 12:16-23). He always recognised the presence of God with praises; whether in the streets or indoors. Indeed, as confirmed in our text, David made thanksgiving a lifestyle and not a condition!
Beloved, we ought to have Christ’ and David’s heart of thanksgiving by living in the consciousness of God. Having the understanding that we can do nothing without the Lord’s mercies helps us maintain a life of worship. Daily, remember that it is in God we live, move, and have our being (Acts 17:28A). Thus, we must intentionally live to praise Him because ‘Thanksgiving is the secret for more’.
PRAYER
Hymn: To God be the Glory – Fanny Crosby (1875)
1. Father, endow me with a heart of thanksgiving in total surrender to You!
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. This month, I shall never be late to my place of honour.
2. Colony of the wicked oppressors, ruling over my life, family, nation and the church; scatter!
3. ‘Up today, down tomorrow’, expire in my life!
