LIVE YOUR PURPOSE (PART 4)

An important dimension of the series on living your purpose is the “wrong purpose” people often embark on. There is always a tendency to pursue multiple ambitions or take on an unplanned task while working on an assignment. However, anytime there is a drift from God’s agenda, there is bound to be confusion because a wrong purpose leads to aimlessness and a loss of resources.
In today’s Bible reading, the people who wanted to build a tower to reach heaven are a great example of working for the wrong purpose. This community was united and had everything going for them, but they were on an unreasonable mission. God created man to multiply in diversity all over the world, but these people chose not to expand. They also had a proud character because they said to themselves, “Let us make a name for ourselves.” Therefore, God scattered their plans.
Another evidence of a wrong purpose is the feeling of unrest and deep dissatisfaction. When there is a constant loss of sleep and peace over an assignment, it is important to check if it is within God’s agenda. In Luke 15:11-32, the prodigal son squandered his inheritance and engaged in an inferior lifestyle, but he began to feel distressed until he returned home. In the same way, a purposeless mission brings restlessness, and the solution is to go back to God in prayer for redirection to the right purpose. As you do this, may you find your path in God and fulfil His will for you!
