LIFE IS NOT ABOUT RICHES
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (NKJV)
A rich man took his little son to the farm of a family regarded as the poorest in the village. After an hour, the man asked his son, “Can you see how poor they are?” The boy replied, “We have a dog; they have four. We have a pool; they have rivers. We have lights; they have stars. We buy food; they grow their own. We have security walls; they have friends. We have dictionaries but they have the Bible.” Then, he concluded by saying, “Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are.”
Beloved, about what are you complaining? Is it your life, marriage, career, or what to eat and wear? What if you are bedridden or dead? Despite the condition you think you are in, there are people who want what you have but are no more. Learn to appreciate the breath in your nostrils because when there is life, possibilities abound.
Today’s key text indicates that thanksgiving gives God pleasure. In other words, whether in good times or bad moments, you must praise the Lord. Don’t be like the rich fool who thought it was all about his wealth, forgetting to acknowledge God (Luke 12:13-21). Moreover, just as in the story of the rich man and his son, the wealthy sometimes crave the peace and natural blessings the common people enjoy. This shows that “Life is not all about riches, but rather having God’s grace to witness another day.” —Kehinde Abolarin.
Make gratitude your lifelong attitude. Praise God and sing: Give Thanks – Henry Smith (1978)
1. Father, please grant me access to Your mercy seat and reveal Yourself to me.
2. Rage of the wicked, troubling my life, expire by fire!
3. Father, this early morning, please destroy the burdens in my life.
4. Lord Jesus, please help me, my family, the church, and the nation to eternity.
GOD BLESS YOU!
