LEAVE THE PAIN BEHIND
Philippians 3:20 – But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, (NIV)
Pain is part of living. At some points in life, we will pass through the phase of pain, be it personal discomfort or agony from external issues. Almost everyone has scars from past wounds or events that momentarily send frightful feelings down the spines. But the Holy Spirit wants us to know that our pain should instead be a cause for thanksgiving. The scars we bear should be a testimony of healing and redemption. For example, a retired soldier should see his bullet wounds as a testament to being alive. A woman who had a caesarean operation would live with the marks, but her pains gave birth to a life (baby).
Beloved, do you know that God identifies with our pains? He knows what we go through and wants to heal our wounds. Jesus paid the price for our suffering and declared, “It is finished!” Our response as Christians is to trust God for healing and live beyond the pains simply because they are temporal, as Paul said in today’s Bible reading that we are “Citizens of Heaven.” Therefore, we should glory in the hope of living in a place where death and weeping cease to exist (Revelations 21:4). I encourage you to accept Christ now or, if necessary, recommit your life to Him. You will enjoy a fresh breeze of life!
PRAYER
Hymn: It Is Well With My Soul – Horatio Gates Spafford (1873)
1. Father, help me transform my pains into gain and inspire me to forge ahead to attain the glory ahead.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Because God can still recreate, whatever is damaged in my life, be restored.
2. Any Balaam hired to curse me. By divine intervention, begin to bless me!
3. Father, heal our wounds as individuals, families, nation, and Church. Make us useful to our generation.
