Daniel 9:9 – To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; (KJV)
The world is rebellious to God’s plan because of its deeds. Killings, blasphemy, and backbiting are becoming the norm. Be that as it may, today’s Bible reading reveals that God is still able to show compassion because He is the originator of mercy. This was captured in John 3:16, where God gave His only son to redeem the world from destruction.
In Luke 23:39-43, Jesus displayed His ability and God’s authority to render compassion. Two thieves were nailed to the cross alongside Christ. One of them mocked Him while the other man said, “Lord, remember me when you enter your kingdom.” Consequently, the thief who acknowledged Christ’s Lordship and confessed was saved, despite being at the point of death. Romans 10:10 says, “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Indeed, there is mercy attainable in the name of Jesus.
What sin have you committed and been convicted of? Whatever the nature of the iniquity, it can be forgiven. You just need to believe in Jesus with your heart and audibly declare your allegiance to Him. He will erase your guilt and give you the Holy Spirit to guide you in the journey of salvation.
PRAYER OF SALVATION/REDEDICATION
Hymn: Jesus Saves — Priscilla J. Owens (1882)
“Lord Jesus, I confess my sins/rededicate my life and ask for Your forgiveness. Please come into my heart to take control and help me walk in Your salvation daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me. Amen!”
1. Father, thank You for your son, Jesus, who died for me.
2. Holy Spirit, quench any form of rebellion against the authority of God in my life, nation, and the church.
3. Ask God for three hard things you desire this week.
