Proverbs 18:16 – A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men. (NKJV)

A significant lesson from the story of Joseph is that despite all he went through in slavery, he used and nurtured his divine gift. Joseph had the grace for interpreting dreams. During his imprisonment, he accurately interpreted the butler and the baker’s dreams. After the butler regained freedom, he forgot Joseph, but God caused Pharaoh to have a dream nobody could understand. Through this, the butler remembered Joseph and recommended him to the palace (Genesis 41).

Dr Ben Carson used to be the dullest in his class at primary school. His colleagues called him “dummy”, but his mother reduced his playtime and ensured that he developed a reading habit. In 1987, the one time class dullard became the first neurosurgeon to separate conjoined twins successfully. Dr Carson refused to be defined by what he was called at school but by the gift of God to become world-famous.

Beloved, there is not a single person without a peculiar talent. As seen in our Bible reading, God has deposited in everyone treasures that fetch affluence and influence. You only haven’t discovered how gifted you are because you have refused to invest your time and energy in self-development and blessing others (1 Peter 4:10). Joseph was steadfast to assist people with his gift, and it bailed him out of prison. Do you know that your unused talents might be the key to your generational wealth? Look inward; there is a treasure in you that the world awaits. Be productive with that manual skill, your voice, fashion, comedy, writing, hospitality and spiritual gifts (Romans 8:19; 12:6-8). Very soon, nations shall seek your service.

Hymn: I Must Tell Jesus – Elisha A. Hoffman (1893)

1. Father, thank You for making me unique.

2. Father, help me discover the true me, my gifts and purpose of existence.

1. Lord Jesus, please transform my visions to profitability in career and soul-winning.

2. Father, create a vacuum that only my talent and services can fill.

3. Father, deliver me, my family, nation and the Church from the act of pride and complacency.
