IS LOVE ENOUGH FOR A GODLY RELATIONSHIP? (1)
1 Peter 4:8 – Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. (NIV)
Love covers all things, and indeed, it was love that brought salvation (John 3:16). More so, during Christ’s dispensation, He was an epitome of genuine compassion through which He healed many and fed the hungry, among other miracles (Matthew 9:36). Therefore, as seen in our Bible reading, love should be the bedrock of every engagement. No wonder, Jesus said, it is through our act of love that people will identify us with Him (John 13:35). So, we should also exercise our love by giving to the needy and saving souls (1 John 3:16, 18-19).
Whether in marriage or brotherly communication, God’s love should be the rudiments of it (1 Corinthians 16:13-14). But, is love enough for a Godly relationship? No! Though it is the foundation (1 Corinthians 13:1-13), we must be led by the Holy Spirit and put other components in place to make up a healthy relationship. For example, in marriage or Christian courtship, prayers– knowing the will of God concerning yourselves, sexual purity, maturity, trust, understanding, financial and career plans, matters. When all the above are in place, unity is formed, and the goals are achieved at a fast pace!
‘Don’t sacrifice your future and ‘to-be’ marital altar for ingenuine love and immorality. Seek God first and honour Him with your body; He shall direct your path!’ (Hebrews 13:4).
PRAYER
Hymn: Into My Heart – Harry D. Clarke (1924)
1. Father, help me to love and be responsible, in marriage and daily living.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Evil covenant I have entered knowingly and unconsciously. Be cancelled by the blood of Jesus!
2. Father, please give me an 11th-Hour miracle that will be too hard to believe.
3. Cloud of darkness covering my potentials and marital glory. Be wiped off!
LOVE IS NOT BLIND WHEN YOU HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT!
