HE CAN COVER YOUR NAKEDNESS
John 5:8 – Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” (NIV)
Read: John 5:1-15
The first hospitality a newborn baby receives is to be cleaned and dressed. This is to protect their bodies from danger and infection. Being naked does not necessarily mean that someone is without clothes; it may also refer to a situation of shame. The good news is that God has always covered humans’ nakedness and vulnerability since the beginning of time.
God covered Adam and Eve’s nakedness after they sinned in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:21). In today’s Bible reading, a man was helpless for 38 years because he had no one to assist him. One day, Jesus covered his shame by setting him free from his affliction. Rachael, Sarah, and Hannah were also maritally naked because they were barren. But God intervened and made them fruitful. I pray for that fellow who is on the verge of giving up: God shall turn things around for your good in the mighty name of Jesus.
Beloved, what is that nakedness you are having difficulty telling your family, friends, or pastor about? I urge you to tell God right now because He can cover your shame and make a message out of your mess. Jesus is the story-changer. He has done it before, and He will do it again! As you pray this day, the Lord will clothe you with the garment of honour and elevate you from the gutter of life to the mountaintop.
PRAYER
Hymn: Jesus Saves – Priscilla J. Owens (1882)
1. Father, thank You for preserving my life up to this point and for the future.
2. Father, please cover my shame and nakedness (mention).
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, please show me mercy, forgive my sins, and blot out the consequences of disobedience in my life.
2. Father, favour me, my family, the nation, and the Church more than ever before in this month.
3. Revive me, oh Lord, so that I can rejoice and walk in Your will.
GRACE SHALL SPEAK FOR YOU!
