GUARD YOUR HEART
Proverbs 4:23-27 (23) – Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (NIV)
As children of God, we need to do a personal check to rid ourselves of any remnants of sin. This is because the heart can be full of darkness while our actions are grafted with deception. There are people who hate their fellow humans but pretend to show love. Many have sold their hearts to wickedness, yet they pretend to lift holy hands in church. Some have become experts in gossiping and judging others but have failed to remove the plank in their own eyes.
The truth is that whatever we do proceeds from the heart. Studying the lives of the Pharisees, you will discover that they were both religiously perfect and hypocrites. Judas was also a disciple whose heart was possessed by Satan. So, what do we do?
Beloved, the solution is written in our Bible text: “Guard your heart.” Let everything you do glorify God. Matthew 12:34 tells us that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. This means that when your mind is dirty, you will produce ungodly fruit. But if your heart is purified, righteousness will flow from within you (Mark 7:15). I urge you to seek the infilling of the Holy Ghost to cleanse your heart and refill it with His love and power for righteous living.
Hymn: I Need Thee Every Hour – Robert Lowry (1872)
1. Father, purify my heart and take permanent control of it!
1. I decree that my path shall be smooth and flourishing. I will not make any spiritual, physical, or career mistakes.
2. I cover myself, my household, possessions, and the church (mention) with the blood of Jesus!
3. I ask for the grace to let go of any wrong done against me.
MAN SEES THE ACT; GOD SEES THE HEART!
