Acts 9:11-19 (11) – The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. (NIV)

God created human beings in such a way that they find their roots in the spiritual but must rely on one another to achieve their earthly ambitions. In other words, while you find your part in God and satisfy your spiritual yearnings, there is the human phase that is needed to accomplish your purpose of existence (physical and spiritual assignment).

In today’s Bible reading, after God encountered Saul on his way to Damascus, he could not see or do anything for three days. Meanwhile, God spoke to Ananias through a vision to lay hands on Saul for his restoration. This is because Saul was chosen to proclaim the name of the Lord to the world. With this understanding, Ananias laid hands on Saul so that he regained his sight and was full of the Holy Ghost.

Beloved, God could have easily restored Saul without the help of anyone. But He needed a vessel to bring Saul into the realisation of his potential in Christ and to spread the gospel. In the same way, every child of God serves as a vessel that extends God’s power and salvation to humanity in whatever capacity they are gifted. If you are struggling to yield to God’s purpose for you on earth, pray that your heart becomes open to the revelation of kingdom service and you will be empowered.

On the other hand, as seen in our key text, while in blindness, Saul continued to refresh God’s mind through prayers till He sent Ananias. There are people who possess what you need spiritually and materially, and without prayers, they won’t be prompted in your direction. Continue in prayer that help may find you and that you fulfil your divine assignment.

Hymn: Jesus Saves — Priscilla J. Owens (1882)

1. Father, please align me with Your assigned vessel for the prosperity of my soul, God’s work, career, and destiny.

1. Father, show me my portion in the scheme of Your mission on earth and empower me to prosper in it.
